DA1903 Handguard Removal
To remove the hand guard and reposition it, here are the steps:
- Remove the Philips screws on your mid swivel band (DAS19) and on the front band (DAS17).
- Move the mid swivel band forward to give you more clearance, then peek under the end of the hand guard. You should see pin #42. It will be silver and juts out an 1/16 of an inch from the receiver.
- Loosen the front trigger screw (#49) with a 5mm Allen wrench to give the hand guard ring (DAS7) a little more play. There is no need to completely remove screw #49, probably 3 or 4 turns to loosen should be enough.
- With hand guard free, reposition the back end first underneath the hand guard ring. Push it back and the ring forward to capture the end. With this captured, slide the mid swivel band back in place and tighten screw #49 a bit.
- Hold front of hand guard down and slide front band back over the top of the hand guard.
- Replace Philips screws and retighten front trigger screw #49.
You can also add a piece of electrical tape over the top of the hand guard to help keep it in place and also provide a visual midpoint of your rifle.
