Procedure to Disassemble a DA1903

Necessary tools:

Steps to disassemble the rifle:

  1. Use punch tool to remove Front Band Pin (DAS51). Pull band forward but do not remove completely.
  2. Loosen and remove stacking swivel and mid swivel bands.
  3. Remove top stock (DAS12).
  4. Remove bolt stop screw (DAS47). Slide bolt (DAS4) out rear. Remove spring (DAS43).
  5. Remove trigger plate bolts (DAS49 and DAS50) with 5mm Allen wrench.
  6. Loosen barrel assembly by lifting slightly from front. Remove barrel and hand guard ring (DAS7) and receiver (DAS11) assembly.
  7. Remove trigger guard (DAS8). If tight, don not bend, instead tap out front bolt section from inside stock with a punch or other tool.
  8. Remove other miscellaneous parts from broken stock - butt plate, rear swivel, etc.

Steps to reassemble the rifle:

  1. Position barrel assembly (including DAS3, DAS7, DAS11) in new stock.
  2. Align trigger plate and start rear and front screw. Do not tighten yet.
  3. Position top stock under hand guard ring and pull down.
  4. Replace swivels - Mid, then front, the insert front band (DAS15). Make sure top stock is captured in front and at rear under ring.
  5. Insert Philips head screws in swivels (both are same) and tighten to keep top stock in place.
  6. Replace pin (DAS51) in front band. Try to hand insert first (one end and one side will be easier. Tap pin in place - should not be hard.
  7. Replace spring (make sure it goes in the proper hole in DAS3 not below. Replace bolt and bolt stop screw. Do not close until bolt stop screw is in place (keep half the head of the screw over the side - do not over tighten).
  8. Tighten DAS49 and DAS50.
  9. Replace butt plate and rear swivel.
